Rules of Entry & Terms and Conditions

Rules of Entry

All entries should conform to the following guidelines:

  • All entries must be on the official entry form. You can submit an entry using our online entry form, or as a hardcopy using the PDF entry form.
  • Each team must use a separate entry form.
  • All team members must be within the same age group or attend
    the same group.
  • If you run out of space on the hardcopy form, a continuation sheet or sheets may be used. These must have your school/club and team name at the top and be securely attached to the entry form.
  • Each hardcopy entry should be accompanied by either:
    • Colour prints of up to 5 (five) photographs per issue tackled (we recommend A5 or A4 size) or
    • One video on DVD of up to 3 (three) minutes duration, with video in AVI, WMV, MOV or MPEG format or as a DVD-VIDEO.
  • Each online entry should be accompanied by any combination of photographs and/or video files in the following formats:
    • AVI
    • WMV
    • MOV
    • MPEG
    • JPEG
    • PNG
    • BNP
    • GIF
    • PDF
    The total memory of the submitted files should not exceed 10mb
  • Each entry must be submitted by a teacher or group leader. In the case of hardcopy entries, each entry should be signed and dated by a teacher or group leader.
  • The entry must be the students or club members' own work.

Once your project is complete please ensure that students or club members have filled out the entry form, sign and comment, and either submit your entry online, or send your hard copy entry to:

The closing date for receiving entries into the competition is the 17th July 2009

Please note: With agreement between the School/club and BSI, your entry may be used for media purposes.

Competition Terms and Conditions

You are contracting with The British Standards Institution, incorporated by Royal Charter, with its principal place of business at 389 Chiswick High Road, London W4 4AL.

  1. Who May Enter
    All school students or club members aged between 7 and 19 years old in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland on the 17th July 2009, in school and living in the UK.
  2. 'The Owners' of the competition are The British Standards Institution (BSI)
  3. Competition Subject:
    The subject of the competition is 'Working together to make a school/club event more sustainable.'
  4. The judges' decision will be final in determining whether the winning entry has accomplished the brief.
  5. Format:
    All entries should conform to the following guidelines:

  6. Hardcopy submissions:
    Hardcopies entries should be in one envelope per team, with one copy of the entry form for each entry. Submitted entries will not be returned.

    Entrants should include their: submitted entry category, school/club name and address and a nominated contact telephone number or email address. All successful entrants will be notified using their means of contact.

  7. Prizes:
    There are three entry categories: Primary, Secondary and Clubs. In each entry category there will be:

    1 (One) first prize of £1,500 (Fifteen hundred pounds)
    1 (One) runner-up prize of £750 (Seven hundred and fifty pounds)
    1 (One) third prize of £250 (Two hundred and fifty pounds)

    Each prize will be in the form of a cheque and will be payable to the school or club.

    No alternatives to the above prizes will be considered. Chance plays no part in this competition. All valid entries and stages are judged on their merits.
  8. Notification:
    The winners will be notified by the 14th August 2009. The winner(s) will be the entrant(s) who in the sole determination of the judges has submitted the most compelling use of an existing or original idea relating to the rules of the competition as laid out. Entries will not be returned.
  9. Copyright:
    By entering your project into the competition, you grant to the BSI a non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable license to use and reproduce the Project content and your name for any purpose in connection with the competition including, but not limited to, the following purposes:

    • Judging the competition
    • Display on the www.bsigroup.com and www.bsieducation.org web sites
    • Inclusion in the BSI marketing and promotional materials.
  10. Other competitions:
    A project that has already won a prize in another competition is not eligible for entry.
  11. Judges:
    These will be appointed by the Owners to choose the winners. The Judges' and Owners' decision on all matters relating to the competition is final, and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the competition's judging and organization. Should the quality of entries fall below the standard required, the Owners reserve the right not to award prizes.
  12. Liability:
    All entries are sent at the entrant's risk. The Owners cannot accept liability for any loss or damage to any submissions entered in the competition; nor will the Owner accept any liability (howsoever caused) for any other loss or damage arising in any way directly or indirectly as a consequence of participating in the competition.
  13. Closing date:
    Entries must be mailed to the postal address to arrive by 17th July 2009.
  14. General Agreement:
    Submission of an entry to the contest automatically constitutes the entrant's acceptance of all the conditions set forth in the above rules. Entrants not complying with the above rules will be disqualified.
  15. Entry does not imply certification:
    Your entry to the GetGreenGo challenge does not imply certification to BS 8901. Although the competition is based around the principles of the standard, entries are not judged against the full specification. Should your school or club wish to claim compliance to BS 8901, you should purchase the full standard from BSI and complete the compliance process for your event.
  16. Governing Law:
    These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Disputes arising here from shall be exclusively subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
